Down on the Farm: AA Report

New Britain Rock Cats

Starting Pitchers

1.) Errol Simonitsch - 7-12 / 4.22 ERA / 123.2 inn / 78-32 K-BB
2.) Glen Perkins - 2-10 / 4.05 ERA / 100 inn / 106-39 K-BB
3.) Brian Duensing - 1-1 / 4.21 ERA / 25.2 inn / 15-10 K-BB
4.) Adam Harben - 3-7 / 3.89 ERA / 106.1 inn / 56-59 K-BB
5.) Nick Blackburn - 5-7 / 5.04 ERA / 105.1 inn / 64-34 K-BB

First things first: Kevin Slowey, who has been the second best Twins minor league pitcher in the Twins system this season (behind Matt Garza of course) has been sent to Team USA and so removed from the Rock Cats roster. I have no idea when Team USA will be playing, or how much work this is going to be for Slowey, or how long the commitment is. I will look into all of this, but I see this as a positive development for Slowey, since it's an honor for him to have been selected to play for his country. On to the regular post.

Errol Simonitsch did not pitch this week, but as of now has not been placed on the DL. Hopefully he'll return to the rotation this week.

Glen Perkins pitched just 3 innings in his start. His ERA rose by .06 points, but he did strike out 5 while walking 3.

Brian Duensing pitched 4 innings in his start. He got knocked around a bit, with his ERA rising by .91 points, and he struck out 3 against 2 walks.

Adam Harben pitched 7 innings and got the win. His ERA fell by .10 points, and he continued to improve on his K-BB ratio, striking out 6 while walking 4.

Nick Blackburn returned to the rotation and made a start after he got into one game out of relief. He pitched 5.1 innings, and he ERA fell by .09 points. He struck out 5 and walked just 2.

Relief Pitchers
1.) Tristan Crawford - 4-4 / 3.65 ERA / 79 inn / 76-28 K-BB
2.) Julio DePaula - 2-2 / 2.15 ERA / 54.1 inn / 34-22 K-BB
3.) Justin Olson - 6-6 / 4.92 ERA / 71.1 inn / 84-32 K-BB
4.) Jay Sawatski - 2-1 / 3.57 ERA / 58 inn / 55-19 K-BB
5.) David Shinskie - 0-2 / 20.25 ERA / 4 inn / 4-4 K-BB
6.) Colby Miller - no record

With Levale Speigner being promoted to AAA Rochester, and Kevin Slowey leaving the team to join Team USA, the Rock Cats were down a couple of pitchers. To make up for them, the Twins promoted David Shinskie and Colby Miller, and you can see the results this far above.

Tristan Crawford pitched 6 innings in 3 games, picking up a win. His ERA fell by .17 points, and he struck out 3 while walking 3.

Julio DePaula appeared in 3 games, pitching 6 innings. His ERA fell by .27 points, but he walked just 1 while walking 2.

Justin Olson pitched 6 innings in 2 games. His ERA fell by .45 points, and he struck out 6 while walking just 1.

Jay Sawatski appeared in 3 games, pitching 6 innings and picking up a win. His ERA fell by .41 points, and like Olson he struck out 6 while walking just 1.
