Down on the Farm: AAA Report

Rochester Red Wings

Starting Pitchers

1.) Pete Munro - 7-11 / 4.76 ERA / 134.1 inn / 88-42 K-BB
2.) Jason Miller - 2-6 / 3.69 ERA / 78 inn / 69-30 K-BB
3.) Scott Baker - 4-3 / 2.83 ERA / 63.2 inn / 53-20 K-BB
4.) Mike Smith - 9-5 / 3.80 ERA / 130.1 inn / 97-47 K-BB
5.) Dave Gassner - 1-0 / 1.00 ERA / 9 inn / 6-4 K-BB
DL - J.D. Durbin - 4-3 / 2.33 ERA / 89 inn / 81-50 K-BB

Pete Munro went 4.2 innings in his start. His ERA fell by .17 points, and he struck out 6 while walking 5.

Jason Miller made 1 start, going 6 innings. His ERA fell by .06 points, and he picked up 5 K's against just 1 walk.

Scott Baker went 7 innings and took the loss in his start. His ERA fell by .03 points, and he had 6 K's and just 1 BB.

Mike Smith returned to Rochester and made 1 start, going 5 innings and taking the loss while striking out 3 and walking 4.

Dave Gassner finally improved enough in his rehab to be returned to Rochester, and made his first 2 starts of the year, picking up a win. If Gassner has a good couple of weeks in Rochester, it's not inconceivable that he could see action in September with the Twins after the minor league season has ended.

1.) Beau Kemp - 7-2 / 1.95 ERA / 74 inn / 27-24 K-BB
2.) Kevin Cameron - 4-4 / 3.64 ERA / 54.1 inn / 48-24 K-BB

Henry Bonilla pitched 5 innings in 2 games. His ERA fell by .29 points, and he struck out 4 while walking 2.

Levale Speigner won a promotion from New Britain to fill the spot vacated by the presumed injury to Ricky Barrett. Speigner has appeared in 2 games and pitched pretty well so far for the Red Wings, and looks to be ready for the AAA level.

By the way, in case you missed it, Erubiel Durazo was released by the Twins after having a mediocre stretch with Rochester, in which he hit .264 over 17 games. Durazo's release means that there is more playing time available for players who actually have a future with the team. I wish Durazo the best, but it seems clear that his baseball career is over.
