Transactions Update

Twins minor-league transactions through April 6th have now been updated on Baseball America. Here are the new tidbits from that list:

Jeremy Pickrel, an outfielder who spent last season with the Ft. Myers Miracle and struggled, hitting just .231 in 316 at-bats, was released from the organization.

Deacon Burns, another outfielder who was with the Miracle a season ago, has also been released. Burns hit just .228 last season in 404 at-bats. For both of these guys, the fact that they weren't on a roster when the minor league season started should have been a pretty huge clue that they had been released.

Finally, Luis Ugueto, a shortstop who was signed late in the off-season, has been placed on the restricted list. This means that he's not on an active roster, and is not currently being paid by the Twins in any capacity, but he is also not free to sign a contract with another team. This often happens if a player leaves the team without permission, or for any number of other unusual reasons. I don't know the situation with Ugueto, but it will be interesting to see if he is ever activated from the list and plays somewhere in the Twins organization. If you happen to know the story behind Ugueto's being placed on the restricted list, I'd be interested in hearing it.

Taylor, I found your site a few weeks ago and now consider it an indispensable source of info about the Twins' minor league affiliates. Please keep up the good work.
