Demise of the DOTF Posts
After a weekend of contemplation, I've made a fairly major decision about the future of this blog. Don't worry -- I'm not announcing my retirement from blogging (which, for all I know, some of you might applaud). I am, however, announcing a fairly significant shift in how I will spend my blogging hours.
For most of this year, regular readers will likely have been aware of a noticeable absence of "features" from the blog. By features, I mean articles that aren't part of a regular series -- for instance, the Nightly Notes and Down on the Farm columns. Simply put, I don't have as much time as I had last summer, and the DOTF columns take a surprisingly long time to write. As a result, I just haven't had time to write featured articles that look at the team -- and I think the blog has been suffering as a result.
This doesn't mean that I'm not going to cover the minor leagues. For me, I get almost as much enjoyment out of covering the overall Twins system as I do covering the Major League team. I could no more give up paying attention to, and writing about, the overall system than I could completely give up on the blog. I'm not sure what form my comments on the minor leagues will take -- more than likely a once a week column on Saturday's, or something similar -- but there will still be content.
For those of you who have been regular readers of the DOTF columns (and I know there are at least a few of you out there), my apologies. If I had the time, I would do everything I want to with this blog -- but, to paraphrase the old cliche, I need to blog smarter, not harder. I'm excited about the change, because it will give me a chance to write longer articles that are more satisfying to write than the DOTF reports, which are basically just glorified information sheets. Hopefully, you all will be pleased with the change as well.

Maybe post weekly hot players in each level, or top 10 minor league players? That way you don't have to delve too deeply into the stats. But still come up with something interesting about the minor league part of it

JT,
I know the feeling. I will just have to do a little computer hunting for the info. I will be interesting to see what you come up with ...
