Rough Stretch Offensively

I don't have a lot to say today, following the Twins 2-1 loss to the A's. In order to keep "on par" for the season the Twins need to win tomorrow. Carlos Silva makes his (hopefully triumphant) return to the rotation, pitching against Rich Harden, who is returning from an injury.

The good news today was Brad Radke, who pasted a second consecutive quality start. This is what the Twins need out of Radke, and most of the time if he can pitch like this the Twins will win ball games. Congratulations to Brad (and Rick Anderson) for seemingly getting his woes figured out.

On the other hand, the hitting has been abysmal in this series. Yes, one of the games was started by Barry Zito, and so not scoring is forgiveable. When facing Kirk Saarloos and Denny Harren, however, the bats need to get going. It appears that Jason Kubel is starting to find his stroke, and Joe Mauer continues to click. The Twins need Luis Castillo to start hitting like he did early in the season, however, and for Torii Hunter and Michael Cuddyer to regain the form that they had for most of May.

I look forward to tomorrow's series finale. Hopefully the Twins will come through and split the series.
