Nightly Notes - Game #2
Short post tonight, folks -- I'm not feeling well and need to get to bed. Nice to see the Twins keep up the good work to start the season 2-0. Here are the (few) notes:
1.) Kudos to Ron Gardenhire for his aggressive managing style so far this season. Tyner has been used effectively as a 6th/7th inning pinch runner, and has promptly been asked to steal. The Twins stole at will tonight, which was huge. I also like the management of the 8th inning by Gardy -- it can be dangerous to use three pitchers in an inning, but it worked to perfection tonight.
2.) I love the way the team is playing right now. Everyone knows his role, no one is trying to do too much, and there's just a sense that the team is very comfortable and very confident.
3.) The real adventure starts tomorrow night with Ramon Ortiz on the bump. If any one of Ortiz, Silva, or Ponson is better than most fans expect them to be, the Twins will be in good shape with three of their starters. That could very well be enough . . .
That's it for tonight. Miracle and Red Wings rosters up tomorrow and Thursday, respectively.

It's never too early for the magic number! Actually, I just put it up as a gag, but it's kind of fun so I'm going to leave it.

I am a supporter of Venafro, but somebody needs to dress that poor boy in 30 degree weather. That is not baseball weather.
