The Twins have moved quickly to get 11 of the 50 players they drafted last Thursday and Friday under contract. Here are the names from the first wave of signings:
1. Ben Revere (1) - CF
2. Michael McCardell (6) - RHP
3. Daniel Berlind (7) - RHP
4. Steven Hirschfeld (9) - RHP
5. Andrew Schmiesing (11) - CF
6. Daniel Rohlfing (14) - C
7. Daniel Latham (15) - RHP
8. Lee Martin (18) - RHP
9. Benjamin Petsch (19) - C
10. Ozzie Lewis (21) - RF
11. Spencer Steedley (25) - 1B
Not a bad haul for the first wave of signings -- 4 of the top 10, a ton of right-handed pitchers, a couple of catchers, and the top pick overall. Last year, the first signings were reported on the Saturday after the draft -- but there were only 7 of them, and they did not include #1 pick Chris Parmelee, who waited for awhile to sign (if I remember right, because he had conflicts with playing in some sort of high-school level tournament). Hopefully, the Twins will get between 25-27 of these guys in the fold -- that would be a fairly successful draft class.
