That's just not going to happen.JSThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12207754797909843134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29090025.post-45513042160533406622006-10-07T17:47:00.000-06:002006-10-07T17:47:00.000-06:00Well, Hank, that's great if it works. But the Twi...Well, Hank, that's great if it works. But the Twins aren't operating in isolation; this isn't a videogame where you identify a player you want and *BAM* you magically get that player on your roster. Pierre would have to want to come here, and the Twins would have to be willing to pay his price. With so few centerfielders available, Pierre's price is going to be high. There are indications that the White Sox are going to push hard for Pierre; so do you overspend for HIM? If so, why for him and not for Torii?

As for signing a third baseman, the same problem exists there. Unless you want to spend about $15 million per season (for probably a minimum of 4 years) for Aramis Ramirez, the options are pretty darn slim.

Bottom line: Torii Hunter is by far the best option for the Twins, hands down.JSThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12207754797909843134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29090025.post-87138111656201064842006-10-07T16:39:00.000-06:002006-10-07T16:39:00.000-06:00Is Terry Ryan the author of this blog? A pretty good hitter with a good arm. A veteran leader. The Twins got better w/o him.

Torii's time is over. The twins don't need him to be their poster boy.

Shannon Stewart will not be the leadoff hitter for the twins next year and Castillo is not a leadoff hitter. Punto is not an everyday player.

Part with Hunter, sign Pierre, bat Mauer second and sign a third baseman with proven defensive capability and proven power. The team will be better off.

Torii takes the 8-9 million or he wears Yankee pinstripes next year. The Scribehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11192645949656790722noreply@blogger.com
